So why am I writing this blog? This is a question I always ask and the reason is that I like to help and inspire people into action. It also serves as a way of making sure I follow through on my own talk; talk is talk but walking that talk is another matter! This all comes down to what you believe in, it is great to have positive thoughts, but then we must use the energy of those positive thoughts to drive us to action! So what drives us to action! This all comes back to your purpose! Why do you get up in the morning? Some of you may say I need to get to work or I need to take my children to school. Yes these are all things we do, but why do we do them? We might go to work as we have to pay the bills, we will take our children to school as we know we have to and to provide our children with education. But why do you want to get up every morning? Do you like getting up in the morning? If not why not, the reason is probably that you have not developed your purpose, why you do the things you do? So many questions and deep down you will find your answer. When I write this blog I feel motivated to do it, I enjoy it and get motivated by putting my thoughts on paper in the hope that some of this may actually help someone out there. I don’t care if it is one person; if one person gets value out of this then that is amazing! At the time of writing this blog I have had some amazing feedback; some of you DM me through my twitter account and someone said to me “ You are an inspiration! Thank you for your positivity” When I read these amazing comments it inspires me to write more and to help more of you out there who are facing challenges. The fact that you are reading this blog means you want to change, you want to get inspiration from somewhere to move on from where you are. The truth is, is that we should always be improving, learning and developing our skills. If you have a purpose or goal that is fantastic, but remember it is the journey. By having a mindset where you continually learn from every interaction and learn from everything you do you will continue to develop and evolve. When you have a challenge how you deal with that challenge will produce results from which you can learn. How you frame a challenge to yourself and how you deal with the challenge in such a way that gives you benefit. Yes, challenges can be hard and we may have no control over the event but you certainly have control/choice over how you react to it. Are you going to react in a way which does not help you? Or are you going to react to it in a way that it leads to your own hopes dreams and goals being realised? If you want something bad enough you can get it! You just have to make sure that everything you do feeds into achieving what you want. I have coached so many people and the aspect that keeps coming up time and time again is that people do not have clarity over what they want. To achieve what you want you must have absolutely certainty and clarity over what you want you achieve! Another huge event happened on the 24th June 2016, Great Britain decided that we would leave the EU, although Scotland Ireland according to their votes would have stayed. I have seen so much emotion involved; whether you decided to vote stay or leave, it has been decided and we now need to move forward. The best way to deal with this is to make sure we all work together and make sure we keep our communication open wide with our european neighbours. A good friend of mine has asked how do we deal with all the uncertainty and change. There are two things that can really help here. 1 - To make peace with the decision. Once you decide that it is done and there is nothing you can do to change it, you then leave the way open for you to start taking actions that will enable you to adapt to whatever life throws at you. So if you are adversely affected by this decision then you can start to make plans to evolve and adapt. This goes for you as an individual and also any businesses that may be affected; the key is to really focus on what you can do to make sure this works to your benefit. 2 - Having the knowledge that change always happens and not knowing what is going to happen can be exciting! - Yes change will always happen, no matter what you do you cannot stop change. If you think that every time you go to work or overtime you wake up in the same is exactly the same think again. When you wake up, your body would have changed, you would have developed new cells, the plants, trees and other would have grown, died back etc. The smallest particles in your body and in your environment are in constant change and although you may not be able to see it or notice it, it does not mean it is not happening. For example I have been delivering a one week induction, when I came back the tomato plants I had planted had at least grown half of one foot. You see the point here is that everything is changing all the time, take notice of the change and prepare to adapt. So like the EU decision, we knew the referendum was coming, yet we did not know the result; the result has happened we now need to adapt and make sure we do everything we can to make sure we adapt so we all have good outcomes. This means ensuring that we all work together no matter how we voted, because it is important that we collaborate and share ideas so we can help each other and also ensure we have influence over the direction we take. If we oppose and just stick our heels in the ground so will others which will prevent us from moving forward. If you refuse to adapt and change then it is likely that the outcomes will not benefit you, think about evolution, we must continually adapt to our environment! So let’s communicate move forward together to ensure we have a great country but also make sure we help other countries so the world to become a better place. It would be very short sighted of us to think that things that go on in other parts of the world do not affects us, they do, we are all connected in some way or another. Let’s ensure that we take note of what is going on around us and make sure we evolve. On a personal level every decision we have made has lead is to this point, from me writing this blog to you reading this blog. So where we are is a result of the decision and actions we have made, once we accept that we are then able to plan and take actions that will take us to the next level. So like everything I talk about, let us embrace change and look at it as another exciting adventure, make sure you have your goals and purpose (if you don’t have one make sure you develop them) so let us enjoy this journey to together and make it amazing! My passion is coaching and this came to me the other day which I think came to me at the right time. This is my message to you guys from now on! “We are not here to make up the numbers, we are here to make a difference!” My question this week, how do you deal with uncertainty and do you embrace change? Have you developed your overall purpose? Don’t forget to comment below, like and share this blog, Let us all change this world together to make it awesome from an authentic and good intentioned place.
