Hi guys thanks for tuning in again I really appreciate it.
This is quite a serious one where I saw a programme on catch up on BBC 3, it was where Professor Green actually dealt with the issue of suicide. His dad committed suicide and he talked about the effects and how he felt about it.
So today is to really talk about suicide and to get more awareness around it and this video is to support that campaign. Professor Green was so brave to come out and actually talk about what was going on which heightened an awareness on what the effects are and how people think about suicide. So if we can control the way we think then we can start to direct our lives the way we want to live them.
So the video talked about men in there thirties and a massive rise in men committing suicide; BBC 3 were promoting this campaign and I found out that they were to axe that channel. ( In fact it is now only online so they did not cut it totally) It is important that we make sure we keep channels like this alive so important issues such as suicide are still talked about and the awareness is raised. This so people can get help if they need to.
Everybody in this world has value, it does not matter where you are from, everyone has an individual talent they can share with the world and this is what I try and encourage through my videos.
If you are feeling in a low place it is just to say that this world would be a worse place without you.If you are feeling in that place it is important to reach out and seek help. By watching this video it is a sign that you do want to get some help.
In the Professor Green video it highlighted that people do get these types of thoughts and they think that their family and friends would be better off without them; the truth of the matter is they would totally miss those people. People just find it hard to understand what people are going through when they are thinking of taking their own lives. So it is really really important that we show support to people who are having these types of thoughts. If you are having these thoughts then it is important that you get that support and know where you can access it.
What I think is amazing is the organisations out there! Last week Kate Middleton actually highlighted issues about mental health and by her highlighting this issue it really does raise the profile of mental health and how important it is. This video is also here to support that. She highlights the plight of young people who wish to take their own lives and again it is important that we are aware of this and provide support. It is also important that we allow a space for people having these thoughts to be able to speak about it without judgement. Mind is a great charity that provides this support www.mind.org (see the link at the end of this transcript)
Another great charity which the video did not mention is the Samaritans at www.samaritans.org.uk (again click the link at the end of the transcript) they are also amazing. The Samaritans will listen to people who are thinking of taking their own lives, but they also deal with other types of mental health issues, where people may be feeling really low. So you don’t have to be thinking of taking your own life to call the Samaritans, even if you are feeling low you can call them and they will provide emotional support. They have people who have been trained and can really listen and talk to you. You can contact them by phone, text e-mail and face to face. There are loads of different ways to get in touch with them and you can even write them a letter and they will respond! All these details are on the website, I will so put a link on my website and on the YouTube video. There is tons of help out there.
If you are watching this video and you are feeling low or thinking of taking your own life, please just reach out to one of these organisations so you can talk things through so they can help you.
We all need to be aware of mental health issues and especially around suicide as people do not want to talk about it and that is why I am talking about it today. I have talked to people when they have had thoughts of taking their own lives and they have received helped and have then got better. I truly believe that every one of you out there has value to add to the world, it would be a worse place without you in it. So please reach out get some help I implore you to do that. Your friends and family will miss you if you are not here; so reach out, take one step at a time and take it slowly.
We are talking about a very serious issue here and I just want you guys to progress your lives and once you get through that phase you will be able to move onto different things in life and come out on the other side, anything is possible. With coaching you can build on where you are.
Let’s keep this awareness going share this video with people you think need support and encourage them to contact the organisations I have talked about. They are there to really help people like you if you are feeling in that place or if you know someone who needs that support. The Samaritans as is Mind; lets all of us encourage people to contact these organisations if they are feeling in that place.
Lets also support BBC3 and channels like this where they are highlighting these issues and trying to put issues like this in the public domain for discussion and awareness. This is so people can really start to understand and empathise. Let us create a space where people can come and talk about these issues; let us put this out there in the open; help people add value to the world.
I hope you found this video useful, the links to the Samaritans and Mind are below. I have also listed them on my Youtube channel.

So be brilliant; like comment and subscribe and I hope to see you next time. Take care.
