Did all of you have a great Halloween? Did you get the F factor, no ed, not X factor the "F"ear factor. Were you scared of all those who dressed up? I bet not, and I would imagine you had a great time dressing up yourself, or seeing others enjoying the evening. I saw a great deal of people having a fantastic time! People smiling and happy, what a great night. But if only people could deal with the "F" factor, of pushing through to achieve what they want to achieve and having a great time doing it. As if they were having a great Halloween night. I see it so many times with clients who get stuck and feel so demotivated because they are not getting what they want. This can lead to all sorts of behaviour which just spirals into continuous circles of the same actions, and they just do not see a way out. They keep getting the same results and wonder, why does this keep happening? They are missing out on things that are very important to them, but put barriers in their own way which leads them to becoming miserable. They simply do not see the possibilities or options as they are so busy blaming everything else. So this week I am going to give you some steps to start making what you think at the moment is impossible into the possible. If you follow these simple steps you will be well on your way to creating your own dream factory. There is one condition though, you have got to be committed and open minded, times will get tough but I know you can do it. 1. Decide clearly what you want. Ask yourself, if I was to be truly happy what do I need or want? Also do you truly want to achieve it? Are you willing to commit time and effort to it? This means paying the price needed to get what you want. 2. Consider where you are now. Measure where you are in terms of achieving what you want. It might be you are looking for a promotion, so think about whether you are on your bosses radar and have attained some extra responsibility etc. Please see my previous blog regarding motivation if you are in any doubt over this step. 3. Write down 2 or 3 small steps that you could take that would start moving you to where you want to be. Take actions that you feel are a little uncomfortable with but you think are achieveable. Make sure you give yourself a realistic time frame to achieve these steps by and stick to them. For example I will achieve this step by tomorrow and put a date in your diary or in your phone etc. This is extremely important. 4. Review the results and see what those actions have produced. If you have got some great results then excellent, keep those brilliant actions and repeat them. If you do not like the results then discard those actions and try some new ones. 5. Repeat as necessary. If you are having trouble getting going then read my previous blog on motivation. Also consider this. Think about how you would feel if you achieved your goal, how you would see yourself and what others would say if you achieved it? Or Consider what the cost would be if you did not achieve what you want? Would you be happy or continue to be miserable? How would you feel and see yourself? Are you prepared to stay as you are? So give this a try, and I promise within a short space of time you will be getting what you want, but you have to believe you will get it. Be resilient my friend as I have been saying in my previous blogs. So what about the fireworks connection Joe, I hear you cry? Well a firework does nothing unless you take some action. Before anything happens you have got to: 1. Take it out of the box. 2. Find a safe place to light it. 3. Light it to see what happens. Usually if you have done this correctly you will have a fantastic display as your reward. This is exactly the same as the actions you take, if you just sit there with the box on your lap and do nothing you will not get fireworks. So it is up to you to take the actions, to light the firework to get that result or the display you want. Go for it as I want to hear about you guys getting what you want and creating some amazing displays. On a final note I have received some amazing feedback from you with some of you getting some great results. Some of you have taken new jobs and are leaving old ones behind which were not giving you what you want. I salute you as this is a brave choice but you guys know that this is necessary if you want to get what you want. Some other feedback has included some of you persisting even though things are getting tough but you know the payoff will come. Some of you cannot believe your luck as things have fallen in place just at the right time in relation of your job opportunity. This is not luck, you made this happen by taking that action, keep going as this is what successful people do all the time. It it is one of those myths that some people are lucky. They are not lucky they make things happen! Enjoy fireworks night, have a great time, but make sure you take those all important actions so you can get what you want. Make the impossible possible people, I know you can. Let me know how you get on and feel free to comment.
