So this week saw the the release of the latest episode of the podcast where we talked about focus! Lot’s of people talk about focus, but are we conscious about what this actually means? In the podcast we defined this as the centre of interest or activity. Now as we go through our lives it is so easy to just get caught up in the everyday activity, we almost go into automatic mode without really thinking about whether what we are doing is leading us to our big dreams or goals. It is those daily activities that will dictate whether we have a chance to get there or not. Now I know that we all have jobs to do, and there are certain things we need to get done each day. But after that do you really think about what you are doing next? Are you really focussed on those daily tasks that connect with your purpose or your mission that you have for your life? Perhaps you don’t think you have a purpose or mission, and if you don’t then that’s your purpose or mission to find that! I believe we are built to serve and when we do good things for others we get a sense of accomplishment that we have added value! That’s why I enjoy coaching so much, seeing people succeeding and getting where they want to be. The times we usually get focussed is when we have a deadline to meet, and this can really help focus our minds to make things happen. But why do we always have to have a deadline? Why can’t we have something in the background that we know is our mission and examine our daily routines to see whether what we are doing will lead us to what we want to accomplish for our lives? Our lives are very short so we have to make the most of each moment and that’s where focus comes in; we need to make ourselves aware that our lives are short and be conscious of it, because that is the ultimate deadline. Have you ever heard the phrase, live each day as if it’s your last? Now that doesn’t mean you go all out spend your money and run up huge debts and go crazy. To me it means making sure we live each moment being our true selves, focussing on what we are doing and making the best job of that moment. If you think of it, each day, each minute or each second of your life is the life you are living and if you are not focussed on it you are missing out on your life. If you are not enjoying those moments or taking action that’s connected with your mission or purpose then you are not living your life to the fullest! Now I have gone in slightly different direction to the podcast in this blog post, because I want you to become aware that focus can mean lots of different things to lot’s of people. I am just here giving you things to consider so you can see what works for you. In the podcast we set a great activity for your to try and I would suggest you go and have a listen and come back here. This week as we are talking and writing about focus, I want to give you some things to take away with you from this post. Try these. 1 - As you go through your day, try and take a moment to sit back and think about the activity you are doing. Are you doing it consciously? Are you truly aware of it? 2 - Is what you are doing moving you closer to your goal or dream? For example, I am writing this blog and with each blog post I am continuing to develop my skills as a blogger and coach. So this is leading me towards my mission and vision. 3- If it’s not, ask yourself why? It is not whether you like the activity you are doing or not it’s about whether it’s moving you towards what you want to achieve. Think about it, will every task move you towards what you want to achieve and is it going to be enjoyable? No not everything you do will be connected, you want most tasks to be connected, and also not everything will be enjoyable; I just want you to recognise this. 4 - Evaluate your whole day, and think about what tasks or activities were the ones that are moving you towards your dreams and goals and keep doing them. Then start thinking about other tasks that could help you, and try and eliminate the ones that are not helping you get to where you want to be. So there we are another blog post and another week. Please leave a comment to let me know how you are getting on; also check out the podcast. Would love to get your view on it. As usual you can contact me through all my social media and here on the website! Have an amazing day you are #inspirationnation
