I get it, you want to watch what you want to watch! Of course that is your choice and what you do is totally up to you. What I would ask is how is your life right now, is it where you want it to be? Are you living the life of your dreams? If the answer is no and that is most likely nearly all of us it’s because of the content we consume. Just think about all that time we use watching and consuming information, my question for you what type of information are you watching. Are you watching or consuming information that is going to help you hit your goals? Or are you predominantly watching or consuming entertainment content. Now I am not saying that you should never consume entertainment, because we all need some light relief from time to time, but if you want to hit your life goals then the content you consume should be in line with what you want to achieve. So for me I am always reading books based around coaching and self-development; I am always looking for content that will inspire me, that’s why my social media only contains feeds that will inspire me into action and will also provide me with information so I can keep moving myself forward. Remember the things that you consume become your environment, and whether you like it or not that is going to impact on the thoughts that you have and the actions that you take. If you are just consuming content which is just for entertainment and it distracts you from your life because you don’t love your life then if you continue down this road things are not going to change. I had a conversation with someone the other day, and he felt he was on a treadmill; he would go to work, come back from work, watch some TV then go to bed and this is his routine everyday. This was a very similar pattern that I had and felt that it also contributed to my depression, because I was thinking what’s the point! What’s the meaning in my life,? What am I here to do? Was I just built to go to work, wait for retirement and just die? This was a scary thought, but I just didn’t know how to break out of it and as I said this was probably another contributor to my depression. The brilliant thing is you can break out of it, if you start to fill your life with content that inspires you into action and you start to be really intentional about what makes you happy and engaged with your life. I want you to avoid this trap, I want you to wake up and realise that you have a choice, but this comes from being intentional about what you consume every day and the environment which you create. Your life is so very short and you need to make the most of it, before you know it you will 90 years old in your rocking chair to wherever you might be looking back at your life thinking what happened? “I could have done so many great things if I had applied myself!” The great thing is that you can change this now, you can go back to now and start to change things, it’s never too late and even if you’re 90 you can still try to make whatever you wanted to do happen, although time is shorter and you will have to put in even more massive effort! This blog is an extension of Episode 15 of the Inspiration Nation Podcast which is now on You Tube see below!! So the main message here is just be mindful about what you consume and I would love to know what you think. Leave a comment below and let’s start talking about this and start achieving! Have an amazing week and until next time #inspirationnation
