So what was the effect of that, well this is the effect, I have come back and I’m determined to release even more content! This week I have had some time off and really dived into the Nation! That said there always has to be a space for downtime! I don’t know about you but I do find this difficult to do as practically every minute of the day I am thinking about the Nation and how I can improve it to help as many people as possible. But this week I really have made an effort, even though I have put more content out there this week because I had much more spare time I still allowed time to relax and enjoy certain things. As an example, it was my birthday recently so I had to just let go and just enjoy that moment. I really went into it big time, enjoyed the moments and allowed my emotions to really let loose! So what was the effect of that, well this is the effect I have come back and I’m determined to release even more content! I didn’t realise it at the time as I thought I was helping the business but in reality, I was not helping the business, my family or myself! I’m writing this to really be in the moment of what happens after downtime. How important is it to have it and why energy is so important when the content is created? So had I not had this downtime I would feel exhausted! Believe me, I have been through that, I remember once working at a business and I would go in and work on my days off because there was always work to do! But this had a big impact on me and my family! I didn’t realise it at the time as I thought I was helping the business but in reality, I was not helping the business, my family or myself! The reason for that is that I was not at my optimum level, because I was tired and could not deliver the high quality and efficiency I could before. That coupled with the fact that it was also starting to impact my mental health (this was something that was not discussed in those days, not like it is now, though there is still work to be done!) Choose some things that you really enjoy doing for me it’s going out and relaxing with my family So what’s the upshot of all this. The key is to recognise that downtime is important, choose some things that you really enjoy doing, for me it’s going out and relaxing with my family. Also watching some shows on Netflix in the evening when everything has died down. Though I still usually watch inspirational material because that is what I really enjoy, though at that point I’m soaking it in, which is amazing and not putting any expectations on myself and that’s the difference. When I’m doing the Nation work, I have an expectation of myself to deliver, but when I’m relaxing that is no longer there. This all comes down to you being self-aware in these moments!
Is downtime important! Hell yes, you need to get some and not feel guilty either as this can happen as it did with Lee, he revealed this in our latest podcast episode called punishment. Go and check it out. Anyway, you do need to re-charge and this was my personal experience it’s good for you and your mental health and this way it can really help you stay inspired!
