I have concluded that fear is a signalFear is a real thing, it challenges us emotionally and I have felt it and have been paralysed by its crippling effects if it’s not managed properly. Having talked to people about fear and read personal development books, I have concluded that fear is a signal. When you feel the type of fear about things like giving a presentation or having to speak to someone and you feel the fear then you need to lean into it. Fear is telling you that it’s time to grow! Of course, there is the other type of fear when you should take action to run away from it for example if a high-speed car is racing towards you, I would recommend you get out of the way. I had heard this message many times in different ways but this time is just hit the spot.I spoke to Simon Squibb and if you want to see that interview then just head over to my YouTube channel just click the link here https://youtu.be/3Et1AYd05w0. When he said that fear is a signal, a signal to take action and to lean into it that was a trigger for me. I had heard this message many times in different ways but this time is just hit the spot, so I’m always looking at ways to challenge my fear and lean into it. How I lean into the fear are things like taking a cold shower in the morning. Some of the ways I lean into the fear are things like taking a cold shower in the morning. I feel the fear of being uncomfortable, I don’t like it and even after about 3 months of doing it I still don’t lie like it. But this is the point I’m taking control and not letting that stop be. It’s meant to have excellent health benefits too, but I will let you research that. This teaches me many things and helps me to learn to be resilient by getting uncomfortable. What I’m saying to my brain is that I’m in control, I control my destiny and I will be making an intentional choice to do difficult things. We are meant to challenge our minds to see how far we can go personally that’s the challengeI have now learned that being comfortable is dangerous because we get used to it, we get soft and we dial down our learning. Humans are designed to learn and we need to be conscious of how we interpret certain types of danger. For me, we are meant to challenge our minds to see how far we can go personally that’s the challenge. So to challenge myself further I have had set myself a Movember challenge and that was to run every day in November since I was supporting the campaign, that idea just came to me. Guess what? When I had that idea I was super scared, and the only way to commit to it was to tell others. So what I did was jumped on LinkedIn and recorded a video to tell people what I was going to do, now I have no alternative but to continue I feel I can’t let people down. Besides, I promised a daily video too. I do this anyway but now I have an additional audience, nothing like giving yourself pressure eh! It’s almost miracle as I was worrying whether I would have made itLastly since running my knee has been hurting so I’ve been using the cold showers to cool my knee down after the run. It’s amazing the love and support that people show when you put yourself out there. There was also a lot of concern about my knee, but for some reason deep down I know it’s not that serious, and all of a sudden it’s not so painful. I can still feel pain it has seemed to lessen! It’s almost miracle as I was worrying whether I would have made it. My back up plan was to walk if I couldn’t run, as I don’t want to have any excuses, AKA David Goggins!!
The upshot of all this, just lean into the fear, face it down and start to live the life you were meant to live. Keep inspiring out there! I know you’ve got this!
