Wow episode 18 of the Inspiration Nation podcast, things are moving at such a fast pace which is amazing. Every week we get even more engagement which is brilliant and that’s why we value you as Inspiration Nation, you keep us going. We just love the community we are building together! So this week was about excuses and why we make them. As I said in the podcast I do make excuses (I am human, I am just more aware when I start making them, and that’s the key); even the other night I was asked to sing at a Karaoke and I flat out refused! I could not believe it, I kept saying I can’t sing! That was my excuse, now we all know that Karaoke is meant to be fun and it really doesn’t matter if you can’t sing, and believe you me I can’t. Anyway it took till the end of the night for my friend to grab me and pull me up to the front, and I started to sing with a group of people. Once I was doing it, it was okay. I didn’t feel any judgement I just went up there and had some fun. So as I have always said, sometimes you just need to jump in even when you know you have a good excuse. So what did I learn? I learned that it’s okay not being able to sing, and also that I need to have more fun. That’s something that I am working on. By the way I am still working through watching Saturday Night Dinner ( A UK based comedy with Simon Bird), that was prescribed by Lee, so that I could get more comedy in my life and not be so serious all the time! When we talk about excuses, this is our in built defence mechanism designed to keep us safe; we have already talked about how our brains have evolved and as such, our excuses can come from a place of fear which would have worked when we were living out in the open as part of tribe because and the danger was very real. (especially when we were being chased down by a dangerous carnivore which was trying to eat us!) Now excuses or that fear holds us back, and we really need to be conscious about why we are making the excuse to not do something. As Lee said in a previous podcast you need to go have a word with yourself. Most of the time we are trying to avoid that uncomfortable feeling, but that uncomfortable feeling is where growth is! Take the example of the Karaoke, I learned that I need to have more fun and that it was not as bad as I thought it would be! So when we challenge our excuses, we start to unlearn built in behaviours that don’t work for us, that keep us from taking on the challenges, that stop us growing. This is why I am writing this blog because I want you to win, I want you to realise that you have the power to push those excuses aside and try something new. Remember you have an amazing super power, and that’s the power of choice. You can choose to leave the excuse on the table and not try, or you can decide to get rid of the excuse and have a go to see what happens. Whatever happens, whether you lose or you win, it’s all part of the learning experience that we are meant to have as human beings. We are here to experience this life to its fullest and we can’t let excuses rule our worlds; our path demands that we follow our intuition and that we find what we are meant to do with our lives here on this planet. I want you to find that, and live that life that you deserve and were born to do, now it’s up to you and be the king of your court, get rid of your excuses and start living your authentic life! This is powerful stuff and even as I am writing I am getting excited about what you might do with this information, I am trying to wake you up from the Matrix, because if you are making excuses you are still asleep and you are still half by it! Wake up! Don’t get trapped living that ordinary life, live , breathe have fun and make sure you live the life you deserve. DON’T SLEEP THROUGH YOUR LIFE, THIS IS THE ONLY ONE YOU HAVE!
