How do we identify our destiny? Well, I am sitting in MacDonalds having my usual Latte after dropping off my daughter for her singing lesson. Having ordered my Latte the guy on the counter said “don’t worry about it, this is on me!” A great act of kindness in the spur of the moment; now I had my loyalty card at the ready (because I do but a few Lattes from MacDonalds) perhaps this was just fate! Though as he was making the Latte he was saying “I will bring this place down!” So perhaps it was fate that I am writing this, and it just so happened I am writing a blog about identifying your destiny. Now there might have been quite a few things that caused this behaviour, but quite clearly this guy was not engaged, something had happened, and now he was giving away product. Whether he was meant to give it away is anybody’s guess but clearly the engagement and his passion had been drained! So finding your passion, and businesses keeping their people in a passionate state is one of those secrets to success. You can now see what happens when people are not engaged and not passionate about what they do. So if you are not passionate about what you do you are unlikely to discover your true destiny. So how do we find destiny? Well, finding your destiny is a very personal journey, and we need to find our way by listening to our inner voice which drives us to do what we are passionate about. You guys already know that my passion is coaching, and what drives me is a coaching and help others find their drive and passion, so that's my destiny; coaching others to find their own destiny and the passion to drive them to their own goals and successes. I am writing this at the weekend, and I had a strong sense that I should start writing; I don’t have to do it, but I want to do it and that’s the difference, that’s when you know you have found your passion; which will lead to your destiny! I have coached people within businesses and also outside the business environment, and what is so similar is that people struggle to identify what they are passionate about or what they want to do. If they know what they are passionate about then they struggle to get started. When I ask people what they want they usually say, “more money” or “to be happy”, but to get those things you need to first identify what your passion is which makes you happy. When you are doing something you are passionate about, and can turn that into the work you do daily then the money will come and you will also be happy and passionate doing that work. An amazing win win situation and you will definitely be on the right road to your intended destiny. As an example I was coaching someone who was not passionate about their job but had an outside interest, they felt totally disengaged with what they do. So the first step for them was to identify what they did like about what they did and to enjoy those moments at work. The second part of the session focussed on what skills they were currently learning that they could apply to the passion they had outside work, in this case it was organising and ensuring that they continue to be efficient in what they did. What they recognised was, that if they could cultivate habits that would push them forward to be better at what they did at work, then this would also translate into habits they could also apply to their passion. In this way they stayed engaged at work whilst they worked on the alternative plan to continue to work toward their passion outside work and eventually have an exit plan to work on their passion full time. This was a win for the business and a win for the employee! This is why coaching is so powerful and here are some tips to get you started. 1-Take time out to map out exactly where you are at this moment, are you passionate about what you do right now? If not what is that reason. Write this down and really be honest with yourself. 2 - If you are not living your passion, create a goal a goal to get started. If you are not sure how to create your goal, see below for the link on my website on how to do this I would suggest you start with something very achievable so you can gain a quick win and build from there. 3 Make a plan and stick to it. Again make it achievable so you know you will stick to it, but you must be passionate about it.
4 - Then just do it! Execute your plan and see what happens! 5 - Record the results and see whether you need to alter the plan and create further actions off the back of those results. Just stick to these steps take action and see how quickly you can start getting results! Just another note on goal creation; although you have a goal do not get hung up on the specific outcomes. Have a vision in place but be flexible with it, because you may achieve something greater than you envisaged, remember let you inner voice guide you and trust that what is happening is destined to teach you something so you can achieve your outcomes you desire. This in turn will lead to your destiny! So let me know, have you identified your passion or destiny yet? If not, where are you now and where do you want to be?
