Going Deeper to find out who you are!“Going Deeper” You may have seen my video on going deeper and what I said about finding out about who you are and what you represent. I thought it would be a good idea to write a blog as a follow up as I have not written one in a while. So what to do I mean by going deeper? This is about finding out about who you are and what you represent. This is shaped by our values and how we see the world. If you are currently in a space where you are struggling and think the world is against you, it may be because your values are not helping you to be resilient. You may have beliefs and values which are not serving you and so you get stuck in a cycle of inaction and not taking responsibility for where you are now. Yes, things do happen, but we can make a choice about how we respond to situations that are beyond our control. You can give up, or fight like hell to try and do something about it, I know which one that I prefer! (because I have tried the other way!) The reason I would choose fight is because I have been in that place where I felt I had no power and I blamed everything else for the results I was getting, so guess what? I decided, and I made a choice that I was going to fight back and start to change the way I looked at the world. I exercised my power of choice and I started to discover what I was about. The power of choice is your superpower! Don’t get me wrong I am still on my journey and at times it is damn hard; but the difference is I know where I want to be and I have to do everything in my power to make it happen. Of course it may happen it may not happen, but I know deep inside that I would have done everything possible to have attempted to make it happen and that matters more to me than the outcome. I have to enjoy the process of owning my own results then using my own abilities to see if I can start to change things and that means taking action each and every day to see what happens! Exciting stuff eh! Have you ever watched the video on YouTube where Steve Jobs said “I want to make a dent in the universe!” he definitely did that. One way he did this is that he would try certain things and see what results came about as a result of the action he took, he was fascinated by the process of seeing the results, in essence he loved the challenge and the process of what he was doing. The amazing thing is you can do this to. Nearly every success story that I have read about has started at a very humble point and turned into something amazing, so it’s possible. You just need to get inspired. Steve Jobs knew what he represented and what he wanted to achieve, this is what I am asking you to do. I am not saying that this is easy, but it’s well worth taking time to do the deep work to find out who you are and what you want to do with your life. You only get one life so take it and make it work for you. Once you accept that you are where you are because the choices and actions you take it’s much easier to keep taking action to get different results.
Try this: 1 - Write down what your values are; what I mean by this what matters most to you? A good way to look at this is write down the opposite of what you would absolutely not accept in your life! Your values should be inspiring to you! 2 - Look at your values and create a vision for yourself, something that you can live by everyday that will encourage you to do something each day to make that vision a reality. Again it should be inspiring because that will give you the energy! Can you see the pattern emerging here? 3- Create a plan of action so you take at least one action each day that move you closer to your vision. So go deeper, find out who you are. We get so caught up in life that we can forget who we are because our life is taken over by all those small everyday tasks. I am asking you to take some quality time out to reflect and try this out. What’s the worst that could happen? Let me know how you get on I would love to know what you think, don’t forget to comment below! Remember you are part of #inspirationnation Until next time……
