Glad you guys keep coming back and are engaging with my content, I am really grateful for the engagement, so a massive thank you to you all. This week it is all about howwe need to say no; this happened to me very recently. I was involved in a project for a business, and although I loved the project I found that I was planning activities outside my hours of work, and this was eating into the time I use to continue with my passion, which as you know is coaching. So sometimes we need to say ‘no’, to things that do not feed into our passion, the reason for this is that we need to say no so we can say a big yes to the passion we have inside. This was a difficult decision for me, however I knew I needed to make the decision so I could still engage in my passion, in this case to continuing writing these blogs and to spend time engaging with you guys, my awesome community! So the trick is to find a balance; now I have talked about this previously and you can revisit my video here, you will also find a useful download totally free! So your passion leads you to your purpose and I have always said it is important to listen to your inner voice to make those difficult decisions, I truly believe that in every situation and in every decision we make there is a lesson to be learned. Our growth depends on it, and this also goes hand in hand with how we engage with our lives. If you are not sure what your bigger purpose is, ask yourself this question; what is it that I love to do most and if I had to do it each and every day what would that be? Write down what comes to mind, it could be anything, keep reviewing it until you shape it into something that really fires your passion and you will find your purpose. As I said in my previous blog, don’t get hung up with the outcome or a perfect vision for what this might be, remain flexible with the vision as it may turn out to be bigger and better than you imagined; the route to your bigger purpose is not always the route you think you will need to take.
For example you may meet someone and think they are not connected to your bigger purpose, one thing to remember about this is that you have met this person for a reason and in the grand scheme of things this may be the person you need to learn a lesson from so you can find your amazing purpose. This also leads us into another area about the people you surround yourself with. Remember to surround yourself with people who will take you to higher levels of development; now I am not saying you should ditch your best friend because they don’t seem to fit into your plan, but rather take stock of who you mix with and think, who adds value? Your best friend may not share the same views but may provide you with some critical insights into what you are doing so you can make sure that any ideas you come up have an in built resilience and can stand up to being criticised, this is where that friend fits in. Sometimes criticism is the best form of test for our vision, we just need to make sure it is not being undermined by people who do not support you. Criticism can also be a catalyst for vast gains, if you are getting criticised it means people are taking notice of what you are doing, so that means you are making an impact and are able to adjust what you do to be even more impactful. This can also be a great way you can shape the way you can find your purpose, and say ‘no’ to the things take your time which prevent you from continuing to move toward your higher purpose. Tips to say no and tapping into that higher purpose. - Analyse and ask the question; does this activity support my higher purpose? If not, ditch it so this gives you more time to follow your purpose. - Whatever you are saying no to, make sure you let people involved in whatever you are doing know why, and be gracious about how you do it. Tell them the reason why but also thank them for thinking of you. - Check your feelings about what you are doing, if you feel uncomfortable about the task you are doing then it probably isn’t the thing you want to be doing, you should be excited about the activity you decide to do. - Surround yourself with people who support you and will make you go to a higher level to help you on your journey toward your purpose. - Seek counsel from the peopleyou trust, they will also be able to provide you with insights about whether to say no to a particular project or task. This will give you more information about your decision. - Get your life in balance and refer to my video, this should give you more motivation to be able to say know and to make sure you stay on track even if things get challenging! Thanks for reading and remember to ask yourself, is everything you are doing feeding into your higher purpose? Let’s have a conversation about this and comment below. Also share this with people who you think will benefit. Until next time #BAOT.
